Ambassador Code of Conduct

Last Update: November 7th, 2024

As a Runna Ambassador, you are a role model and a representative of our company values, which focus on supporting runners of all abilities, both on and off the race course. We ask that you conduct yourself in ways that inspire, support, and uplift others in the running community, embodying our values to encourage and welcome everyone into the sport.

Please review our expectations outlined below and confirm that you are happy to agree to these as a Runna ambassador:

N.B. Ambassadors may also end the partnership if they feel Runna fails to uphold these same values.

General conduct

  • Be an exemplary public role model: Embody our mission to inspire, support and uplift all runners and contribute positively to the running community.
  • Zero tolerance for discriminatory, harmful or offensive behaviour: Avoid any discriminatory, harmful, or offensive behavior. Racist, sexist, homophobic, or other discriminatory actions are not tolerated and have no place in our community or sport.
  • Hold others to the same standard: Actively support a positive community environment and inform us if you observe behavior that falls short of our expectations.

Community events

  • Create a welcoming environment for all: Show respect, consideration and kindness to all community members and make everyone feel part of the Runna family.
  • Be mindful of methods used to create content: Ensure you are creating content in a considerate way that doesn’t disrupt other attendees’ or runners’ experience.

Race conduct

  • Be an exemplary role model of race rules: Follow all race guidelines and respect race officials.
  • Respect other runners + supporters: Show kindness, consideration and respect to other participants, supporters and volunteers.
  • Race content filming: Capture all content in adherence to the race rules and guidelines, and without causing disruption to other race participants and supporters.

Health & safety

  • Role model a healthy, sustainable relationship with running: Model a balanced approach to running, avoiding promotion of overtraining or running while injured. Emphasize safe practices like proper warm-ups, hydration, nutrition, and injury prevention.
  • Be intentional about your race calendar: Promote a balanced race calendar that supports long-term wellness rather than overtraining.

Content creation

  • Be genuine and authentic: Share your authentic experiences with Runna, letting your genuine engagement with our product and community inspire others. Clearly disclose your affiliation with Runna as appropriate.
  • Embody inspiration, sustainability and positivity: Create content that inspires and uplifts the running community. Avoid sharing content that promotes an all or nothing attitude.

Minimising climate impact:

  • Ambassador race trips are an incredible opportunity for us to experience the race weekend together as a Team Runna community and create lasting memories. We love being able to support these trips and it’s something we want to continue doing. However, we’re cognisant of the environmental cost that comes with running international race trips and we want to mitigate the impact where we can. To help minimise the impact of our race trips, we:
    1. Offset all ambassador + team flights linked to race trips using Terrapass. We do this by calculating the emissions generated from all flights (or other travel means e.g. trains) and paying a lump sum equivalent to the carbon emissions generated
    2. Don’t pay for business class flights as these have a much higher negative impact
    3. Where possible we try to take ambassadors who already live relatively close to the destination (i.e. short haul vs. long haul flight) to minimise the carbon emissions. Sometimes this is not possible as we sometimes receive bibs from partners who have specific requirements that the placeholders come from a specific geography.
